MOUNT RAINIER, MD (WUSA9) - A very sweet, playful cat named Leon – who happens to be blind – is having some trouble finding his forever home.
Leon is a medium- sized adult male cat with short black hair and white whiskers.
He wandered up to a veterinary hospital about six months ago. Those vets sent him to Alley Cat Rescue in Mount Rainier, Maryland, where vets determined he had an eye infection, said rescue employee Nikolette Cochran.
About a month ago, vets discovered his eyes had ruptured and needed to be removed as soon as possible.
Since losing his sight, Leon has learned how to go up the stairs, play with twine and interact with other cats. He loves wondering around and especially loves having his belly rubbed.
“He would love a home but some adopters have been hesitant because they label him as special needs, but really he doesn’t need anything special at all, just love and attention,” Nikolette said.
Leon has the same personality he had before losing his sight and is up-to-date on all vaccines.
He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.
