Anne Arundel Co. man busted with more than $22K in pot

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police in Anne Arundel County have arrested a man in possession of more than $22,000 worth of marijuana.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Wellham Avenue in Glen Burnie at 12:16 a.m. on July 27 for the report of drugs, and upon arrival, spoke with a man who said he discovered a large quantity of marijuana in a shed on his family member's property, police say.

The reporting person suspected the marijuana belonged to his other family member who lived at the residence, police say.

Officers executed a search warrant and recovered 2.4 pounds of marijuana, having an approximate street value of $22,246.40. Additionally, police say they recovered packaging materials and paraphernalia suggesting the suspect was involved in distribution of the drug.

Wesley Byron Wheeler, 33, was located and arrested on July 28 at the Extended Stay hotel in the 100 block of Chesapeake Center Drive in Glen Burnie. He is charged with 1 count CDS possession Marijuana, 1 count of CDS possession with intent to distribute Narcotics, 10 counts of CDS possession Paraphernalia, 2 counts CDS possession not Marijuana, 1 count CDS packaging material possession/distribution and Marijuana packaging possession/distribution.
