3 Md. men arrested for breaking into abandoned mall

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick Police arrested three men in connection with breaking into the Frederick Towne Mall early Sunday morning.

A patrol officer found the three suspects inside of the mall around 3:30 a.m., police said.

Authorities are not certain about the motive for breaking into the mall at this time, police said.

Police arrested Joseph Franklin Basford, 23, of Rohersville, Md., Brandon Michael Paternoster, 22, of Jefferson, Md. and Mitchell Adam Jasek, 23, of Keedysville, Md.

The three men are all being charged with one count of 4th degree burglary, and trespassing on private property, police said.

There are not any open businesses inside of the mall at this time, according to authorities.
