16-year-old dies after being hit by car while riding on skateboard

WALKERSVILLE, MD (WUSA9) - A 16-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a vehicle while he was riding his skateboard in Walkersville, Maryland on Sunday afternoon, police said. 

Around 2:10 p.m., police received a call about a collision involving a truck and a pedestrian. 

The truck was traveling westbound on Devilbiss Bridge Road at Heritage Farm Park Road when the vehicle struck a pedestrian riding a skateboard. 

The truck driver has been identified as 18-year-old Austin James. 

The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified. 

No additional information has been released at this time.
