Va. man arrested in 2 BB gun attacks

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- Manassas City Police arrested a 24-year-old in connection with two separate BB gun attacks that happened in Manassas, Va.

Police said deputies met with a student and school staff Wednesday at the Metz Middle School located at 9950 Wellington Road on Wednesday. According to authorities, the victim told officers at 7:10 a.m. a man approached him on a white, black and gray mountain bike while he was in the area of Rolling Rd and Country Lane.

The 14-year-old was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk, the victim said. The suspect then told the victim he should obey the law.

The man followed the victim to the bus stop and shot two pellets from a BB gun into the 14-year-old's stomach, police said.

The suspect rode off northward on Rolling Rd towards Sudley Rd., police said.

In another incident that happened on May 13 in the 9500 block of Jayhawk Ter, the man approached a 15-year-old on his bike and asked the victim for directions. Police said he pulled out a BB gun and shot the victim in the chest.

Police said in this particular incident the suspect apologized and claimed it was only a prank.

Authorities arrested Raul Soto, 24, of Manassas, Va. Wednesday. He is being charged with two counts of malicious wounding, according to authorities.
