Va. man arrested for assaulting deputies

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- Manassas City Police arrested a 24-year-old man for refusing to comply and trying to hit officers on May 9 in Manassas, Va.

Police said deputies were conducting a routine traffic stop on the 9100 block of Taney Rd when the riders in a vehicle refused to comply with officers commands.

Authorities said they asked Philip Austin Tracey, of Manassas, Va., to get out of the vehicle to be detained for safety reasons. Tracey got out of the vehicle, however then pulled away from deputies and tried to hit them.

According to authorities, Tracey was charged with obstruction by threat, obstruction by force, and assault on a law enforcement officer.

He was held without bond and has a pending court date of July 22.
