Man stole memorial signs dedicated to Sandy Hook shooting victims

HERNDON, Va. (WUSA9) -- Officials have arrested and charged a man for stealing memorial signs dedicated to two Sandy Hook Elementary shooting victims, police said.

Andrew David Truelove, 28 has been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. The Herndon Police Department executed a search warrant at a home located in the 400 block of Fillmore Street. That's where they found the two memorial signs from New Jersey and Connecticut, police said.

Both signs were dedications to shooting victims, 7-year-old Chase Kowalski and 7-year-old Grace McDonnell, from Sandy Hook Elementary School, police said in a press release. One of the memorial signs was stolen from a playground in Mantoloking, New Jersey. The second sign was stolen from Mystic, Connecticut.
