Decoy in bed helps lure sex assault suspect

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man was arrested in connection with three sexual assaults that happened at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Manassas over the past two months, Prince William County police said.

The sexual assaults happened at the hotel located at 10800 Vandor Ln in Manassas, according to authorities.

Police were able to arrest Brandon Charles Murdock, 31, of Front Royal on October 6 after he entered a target room reserved by police. He is being charged with burglary and attempted aggravated sexual assault.

The first sexual assault happened on September 15 around 6:30 a.m. when a 63-year-old woman visiting from overseas was sleeping inside of her hotel room. Police said the victim woke up to a man inappropriately touching her. She screamed and the suspect fled the room.

Another sexual assault happened on October 6 at 5 a.m. when a 15-year-old girl from South Korea told her school staff she was sleeping inside of her hotel room when she woke up to a man touching her inappropriately. The man fled the room when the victim woke up, police said.

Police also learned about another sexual assault that happened to a 16-year-old student on the same trip a day before. This incident was not reported to police until the previous incident was reported.

There were no signs of forced entry in any of the room, according to authorities.
