BALTIMORE (WUSA9) - A man was arrested after a handgun and a small dog were detected in his carry-on bags at the Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) on Wednesday morning, according to TSA.
While the man's two carry-on bags were on the X-ray belt, officials say a handgun was detected in the first bag and a small was was detected in the second bag.
The carry-on that had the dog inside appeared to be a duffle bag, but officials say it was actually a pet carrier. The X-ray image showed a gun and the image of the dog's moving skeleton.
According to TSA rules, small pets should be removed from their carrier and held when walking through the metal detector while the empty case goes through the X-ray machine. Travelers should not allow their pets to pass through the X-ray machine.
Officials say the 9mm caliber handgun was packed with two empty magazines.
