It all started in 1992 with a challenge.
It was a leap year and a company employee challenged people to use that extra day to make a difference in their community.
TEGNA stations across the country, including WUSA, will be hosting projects on Saturday, October 22, that serve local needs. Anyone can start a project or join a project by going to makeadifference.com
"It has now grown to over 60,000 volunteers tomorrow will come together across the country in communities small and large to improve the lives of the people in their community through a variety of service projects," said TEGNA CEO Gracia Martore.
WUSA along with TEGNA will bikes and bears this Saturday for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington.
"Whether you're putting a lemonade stand or building bikes and bears, we welcome everyone to join us," said Martore.
