LEESBURG, VA. (AP) - Flight delays and cancelations are clearing up around the nation's capital a day after Washington region's three airports halted flights due to an evacuation at a Federal Aviation Administration facility.
Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport and Reagan National Airport were all impacted. Airport officials said midday Tuesday that the delays had dissipated.
The FAA says fumes from construction work forced the evacuation on Monday evening at a Leesburg, Virginia, facility that handles high-altitude flights over the area. For about three hours, the facility stopped accepting new flights and handed off airborne flights to other facilities.
