WSSC crew robbed at gunpoint while repairing water main

LAUREL, MD (WUSA9) - A WSSC crew repairing a broken water main in Temple Hills was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning.

The incident happened in the 4100 block of 24th Avenue just before 3 a.m. The four WSSC employees were not hurt.

Prince George’s County Police are leading the investigation with the support of the WSSC Police Department.

“I want each and every WSSC employee to know that their safety on the job is paramount,” said Carla A. Reid, WSSC General Manager/CEO. “This was a frightening ordeal for our employees who were simply trying to do their job. We will provide them with the appropriate support services needed in light of this incident.”

Repairs to the broken water main were completed and all affected residents have water.
