LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9/ AP) - Police in Prince George's County have made an arrest in the murder of a man whose body was found in two bags in a Laurel apartment complex.
The suspect is 32-year-old Santos Leonel Mejia-Yanes of Finsbury Court in Laurel, police said. He's charged with first and second degree murder and is being held without bond.
Mejia-Yanes has a bail review hearing on Friday afternoon. He has a preliminary hearing set for September 23rd.
Detectives also obtained a warrant for a second suspect. He's 34-year-old Bayron Cruz-Vargar also of Finsbury Court. Cruz-Vargas is charged with first degree murder as well as first degree assault and other charges, police said. He remains at large.
Police say they were called around 9:20 a.m. Sunday to the 8800 block of Enfield Court in Laurel where they found the two bags.
Police said they have identified the body that was found in the bags as Jacinto Perez. Police said the suspects and victim were roommates.
The preliminary investigation reveals the three men got into an argument inside their apartment that turned violent and ultimately escalated to the murder.
