Jury trial date set for Alexandria murder POI

LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- The man who, police say, is a person of interest in the murder of a school teacher in Alexandria, Va. was indicted on gun charges in Loudoun County, police said.

Charles Severance, 53, of West Virginia, was extradited to Loudoun County to face those gun charges. On Monday, officials ruled that he will be charged.

As a result of a court hearing on Tuesday in Leesburg, further dates were set for Severance's trial. A motion hearing will be on September 4 at 1 p.m. and a jury trial will be on October 27 and 28 at 9 a.m.

Severance is also wanted in the murder of Ruthanne Lodato, who was killed in the city of Alexandria back in February.

Severance was arrested in West Virginia and then the stories of his connections to the local crimes were revealed by police.
