Jogger hit on head with stick in Md., suspect sought

MITCHELLVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police need your help finding a man who they say assaulted a jogger in Prince George's County Thursday morning.

It happened in the 1500 block of Silverado Court at about 6:20 a.m.

A woman said she turned around to head home when a man hit her in the head with a stick. He hit her several more times before she was able to fight him off, police said.

He ran into the woods at the end of Golf Course Drive, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries but has since been released.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 25-years-old, roughly 5'8" tall, with a thin build. He had on a black hat, black hoodie, black shirt, black running pants with a white stripe and was carrying a black backpack.

This is the first such reported incident in the area, police said. They are working to establish motive.
