Threat targeting Eleanor Roosevelt High School 'not credible', officials say

The high school is taking the threats seriously.

GREENBELT, MD. (WUSA9) - Prince George's County Schools said the threat made on social media targeting Eleanor Roosevelt High School Sunday are "not credible."

The Prince George’s County Police Department was first alerted to the threat Sunday evening and investigated throughout the night.

The school principal sent a letter to parents about the incident.

“Although this threat wasn’t credible, this department takes all such threats seriously and works aggressively to identify the sender. We urge all citizens, both young and old, to please think before sending such posts. While the sender may not have a criminal intent behind the post, this department, the school system and this community take them seriously,” said Deputy Chief Raphael Grant, Bureau of Administration & Homeland Security.

During an interview, officials said the student indicated the photographed weapon in the social media post is a BB gun.
