Game 1 of NLDS playoffs at Nats Park

The Nats are in the playoffs and "Game One" of the National League Division Series is happening here at Nats Park.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - National fans are gearing up for Game 1 of the National League Division Series at 5:38 p.m. in Nats Park.

"I'm really excited, very excited," said Tim Smith, who loves the Nats.

Smith will not have a seat in the Nats Park for the matchup between the Nats and LA Dodgers, but to him he will still have one of the best seats in the house; his house.

"I will be watching the first moment I get home," he said.

He tells WUSA9 he will be in front of the TV with popcorn and soda. Other loyal fans like Levonne Pannel will be tuning in as well. She is thrilled that Game 1 and Game 2 will both happen right here in the District.

"It just makes everybody excited; the kids get excited, everyone," Pannel said.

"With all that's going on, it's just good to be able to rally around the team."

WUSA9 met the Nats Pack, racing presidents, organizers and others. They told us fans have a lot to look forward to, especially if they arrive early.

The gates will open 2.5 hours early. A 20 percent discount on all food and merchandise at the “Early Bird Kiosk” in Center Field Plaza will be happening for the first hour after the gates open.

Fans are reminded to wear red. Each person will receive a One Pursuit red rally towel by Delta Airlines. It is imperative that attendees bring the correct Game 1 ticket and not Game 2.

Entry will be prohibited without the right ticket. Entertainment, including a drum line and stilt walkers will be on Half St. Everything starts when the gates open.

If you can, avoid driving to the game and consider other transportation options.
