WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Hundreds are walking in Montgomery County Sunday to find a cure for a rare children's disorder.
Juvenile Myositis affects one to two children in a million, and mostly girls. There is currently no cure.
"Walk Strong to Cure JM" started at 209 Boardwalk Place in Gaithersburg at 10 a.m. Festivities lasted until 11:30 a.m. This was the first walk of its kind in our area.
Parents of children suffering with the disease want more education for doctors, better treatment and additional research.
Sunday's event goal was to raise $75,000 to fund research with the hope of finding a cure.
