Suspicious man reported near Lincoln Elementary

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick police are asking parents to be aware of a suspicious male who they say approached a mother while she was walking her children to school Thursday morning.

The mother was walking her children to Lincoln Elementary in the area of Center St. and Scholls Lane when a male suspect made inappropriate sexual comments and references to liking young girls, officials say.

Police say he continued to follow the mother, her son and young daughter. Police say the mother was able to ward off the male when it appeared he attempted to touch her daughter's foot as she was seated in a stroller.

The man is described as white, 5-10, with short gray hair and a grayish blond beard. He was wearing a black jacket and plaid shirt underneath.

No other similar incidents have been reported to this point. The Frederick Police Department is asking all parents to be aware their surroundings and that they educate their children who may be walking in the area. Anyone with information regarding this man is asked to contact OFC Adam Anderson at 301-600-6234.
