Power outage in downtown Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Power is out in downtown Frederick Thursday afternoon due to a blown transformer.

Police say a transformer blew on West 4th Street around noon, causing the outage.

Frederick Police are on scene montioring traffic conditions and the area affected.

Potomac Edison says this will be an extended outage and work continues in the area.

West 4th Street is currently closed. District and Circuit Courts will be closed for the rest of the day.
