FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police arrested a father Friday night in Frederick in the death of his 21-month-old girl.
Frederick Police Department said they arrested Frankie Aubrey Williams, 24, of the 300 block of Prospect Blvd after getting a call for a young girl who was not breathing.
Police went to the residence and found the child unresponsive and immediately began life saving efforts, authorities said.
The young girl was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead a little later.
Authorities said investigation into her death showed suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident. Visible marks and bruises were found on her body at the hospital, authorities said.
Authorities were able to determine the father was responsible for the injuries.
Williams is charged with: first degree child abuse resulting in death, first degree child abuse with severe physical injury, and first degree assault.
The investigation is still ongoing, police said. Detectives are awaiting autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office.
