Motorcyclist dies in trash truck collision

THURMONT, Md. (WUSA9) -- Monday morning, a motorcyclist lost his life when he collided with a trash truck in Thurmont, Md.

Maryland State Police say that troopers responded to the scene on southbound Rt. 15 at North Franklinville Road at approximately 5:08 a.m. According to their investigation, a 2006 International trash truck was traveling from North Franklinville Road across the southbound lanes of Rt. 15. At the same time, a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle operated by 55-year-old James Bertram Boehner of Orrtanna, Pennsylvania, was traveling southbound on Rt. 15. Boehner then struck the rear driver's side of the trash truck. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

The trash truck driver was not injured. He told police he didn't see the motorcycle when he was pulling across the road, say police.

According to a trooper at the scene, it did not appear that alcohol or speed were a factor in the collision.
