Md. man arrested for stabbing victim in stomach

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Md. man was arrested for stabbing a man in the stomach in Frederick County on December 8, 2013.

The Frederick Police Department responded to the 100 block of N. Market St. for a stabbing and found the victim bleeding heavily from his stomach, according to authorities.

The victim was taken to Baltimore Shock Trauma, where he underwent emergency surgery for his injuries. The victim was then released, police said.

After an investigation by the Frederick Police Department's Criminal Investigation, detectives found out the stabbing happened between two groups of men, who got into a confrontation, police said.

According to police, detectives were able to identify the suspect, Ryan Michael Small with the assistance of a surveillance video and tips from the community.

Small's warrant was then issued on January 31, 2014, police said.

Small was arrested Monday morning in Carroll County, Md., with the help of Maryland State Police.

He is being held on $300,000 bond police said.

Small is being charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
