4 teens arrested in Frederick shooting

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Four teenagers were arrested in connection with shooting and 17-year-old male Thursday evening, Frederick police said.

The shooting happened around 5:44 p.m. in the 1100 block of Orchard Terrace in Frederick, according to authorities. When crews got to the scene they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police said two groups of people that know each other going into an altercation in the area of Orchard Terrace and Hill Street. During the incident two members of the suspect group shot at the victim's group. One of the victims was then shot. A third person in the victim's group also had a gun and shot back.

According to authorities, the victim has a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his body. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for his injuries.

Michael Allen Diggs, Mekhi Caire Davis and Alonetae Jamera Cottinham were all arrested in connection with the shooting. A fourth juvenile was arrested and is being charged as a juvenile for possessing a gun.

The three suspects were taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. Two of them are being charged as adults.

The name of the victim has not been identified yet.

Diggs, 18, of Frederick is being charged with one count first degree assault, one count second degree assault, one count of reckless endangerment, one count use of a firearm in a violent/felony crime, one count of handgun on person, one count of juvenile in possession of firearm.

Davis, 16, of Frederick, one count of first degree assault, one count of second degree assault, one count of reckless endangerment,

one count use of a firearm in a violent/felony crime, one count of handgun on person, one count of juvenile possession of firearm.

Cottingham, 18, of Frederick is being charged with one count of first degree assault, one count second degree assault, one count of reckless endangerment, one count of a firearm in a violent/felony crime, one count of handgun on person, and one count of felon in possession of firearm.

The 17-year-old juvenile male is being charged with one count juvenile in possession of a firearm.
