2 Md, people sought in wallet theft

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is looking for a woman and a man in connection with a wallet that was stolen at a Lowes store, located on Buckeystown Pike Tuesday.

Authorities said a man and a woman followed the 55-year-old victim around the store asking her questions while she was shopping.

The two suspects helped the victim put plants that she had just bought into her car. Authorities said the woman noticed her wallet was missing from her bag after the suspects had already left.

According to authorities, there was a lot of money, along with credit cards and person identification in the wallet.

The first suspect is being described as a white man, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with black, short hair and a heavy build. He was wearing a baseball cap, shorts, a t-shirt and sneakers at the time of the incident.

The woman is being described as a white woman, with a dark tan, and black hair in a pony tail. According to authorities, she was wearing a tank top and sunglasses at the time of the incident. She had a pierced lip or nose, and a large tattoo on her chest.

The two suspects were last seen driving in a gold with white hood and left front quarter panel 2002-2005 Hyundai Sonata.

Anyone with information about this crime or who can identify the suspects is asked to call Dep. Michael Toste at 301-600-3610. The Sheriff's Office is warning citizens to be wary of distraction scams where culprits divert your attention in some way like asking you questions or by offering to help you with a task, while a second person steals your belongings. Citizens are asked to call their local law enforcement agency immediately to report suspicious persons or behavior.
