Former NSA contractor faces espionage charges

It's a big day today in court.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A former government contractor will be in court on Friday for stealing top secret government information.

Harold Martin III, 51, of Glen Burnie  was arrested on August 27. He has been formally charged with theft of government property and unauthorized removal and retention of classified materials, according to court documents. 

Martin is accused of taking material between the years of 1996 and 2016. 

According to a federal law enforcement officer, Martin worked with the National Security Agency.
