Westbound Canal Rd. NW closed for emergency inspection

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Friday morning, The District Department of Transportation closed westbound Canal Road NW between Foxhall Road and Arizona Avenue for an emergency inspection. We're told the inspection follows the discovery of a depression on the roadway and that officials are concerned about the integrity of the road.

DDOT officials tell us westbound traffic on Canal Road NW will be directed west on Foxhall Road NW, west on MacArthur Boulevard NW, and then south on Arizona Avenue NW to reconnect with Canal Road NW. A single-lane closure on westbound Canal Road NW between Foxhall Road and Reservoir Road from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Officials say that after the evening rush hour, westbound Canal Road NW will be fully closed between Foxhall Road and Reservoir Road, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
