US library hosts open house for President's Day

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Library of Congress is hosting an open house of its ornate Main Reading Room to show how the public can access the library's resources and a presidential display for President's Day.

The reading room will be open Monday for the President's Day holiday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reference librarians will show visitors how to obtain registration cards and use the library's services. A special display also will feature items from the first three U.S. presidents.

The library is also hosting activities for children in its Young Readers Center, including presidential trivia and reading famous speeches by presidents.

Guided tours of the library's historic Thomas Jefferson Building will be offered throughout the day.

All other reading rooms and buildings will be closed for the holiday.
