WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --To cap off the Cherry Blossom festival, roughly 2,500 runners participated in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run.
The race started at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The annual tradition wrapped around the National Mall and Tidal Basin.
Runners said they enjoyed the sights and the beautiful cherry blossoms along the route.
"It went great. It was our first 10 miles." When asked how was it running to see the cherry blossoms one runner said it was amazing and wonderful.
"The smells are wonderful. The sense of team with so many people around you. It's the best run I've ever done," added another runner.
"It was great. I expected it to be colder. It turned out to be perfect," explained another participant.
If you missed the cherry blossoms this weekend you still have a couple more days of peak bloom.
There were activities for the children and non-long distance runners too. There was also a kids run and a 5k.
