Suspicious package investigated at Van Ness Metro

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- D.C. police investigated a suspicious package near the west entrance to the Van Ness Metro Station Wednesday morning.

Red Line trains bypassed the station while police investigated, according to a Metro official. The west entrance to the station was closed.

The package was found just outside the entrance near the Starbucks coffee shop. It was reported to police shortly after 7:30 a.m. and deemed safe at 9:30 a.m.
