Streetcar Operator training starts Monday

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Streetcar Operator training will begin Monday.

Keeping the upcoming training in mind, DDOT is reminding drivers that cars parked in the path of the streetcar along the H Street/Benning Road Corridor will be ticketed.

The fine for vehicles blocking the streetcar route is $100. According to DDOT vehicles may also be towed and relocated to a nearby neighborhood to clear the streetcar path.

DDOT reports that the full DC Streetcar operations team will be in place for the training.

According to DDOT the team is made up of 37 employees, including 28 operators. DDOT reports that eighty-nine percent of the employees are DC residents.
