Roaches crash 40-year high school class reunion in DC

There is a report that roaches and mice have been sighted at Woodrow Wilson High School.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - A hoard of roaches and sightings of mice marred the 40th reunion celebration for the Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1977, according to photos posted to Facebook by WUSA9's Bruce Johnson.

"They were all around me," said partygoer Raymond Burts in a comment to the post.

Health inspection records indicate Wilson High in Tenleytown was cited in February for conditions that could promote the presence of insects and rodents. Holes were found in the walls of the kitchen area. However, no follow-up report is available.

D.C.'s Department of General Services is responsible for maintaining school buildings. The agency did not respond to WUSA9's requests for comment.

Rat poison stations are present around the exterior of the school.

A staff member said exterminators were working in the building Monday after complaints by alumni. The staffer said a pest control contractor visits the school bi-weekly throughout the year.

Students told reporter Scott Broom they have seen roaches and mice, but do not consider the problem out of control.
