Rescued Sochi dogs arrive in DC

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Dogs rescued from Sochi arrived in D.C. Thursday evening at the Washington Animal Rescue League.

WARL officials say they welcomed 10 dogs to the shelter Thursday evening in partnership with the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International.

The dogs were displaced during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Several Olympic athletes have adopted stray dogs from Sochi.

The animals are getting a health checkup and should be available for adoption soon.
