Rally held against police militarization

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A vocal group rallied against police brutality and militarization on the steps of the Justice Department in Washington Wednesday afternoon.

Bruce Johnson reports, this is all stems from the shooting of an unarmed teen in Ferguson, Missouri.

Protesters plan to present a list of demands to US Attorney Eric Holder. They are going to ask for a special prosecutor for Ferguson and they want police officer Wilson arrested for the slaying of Michael Brown.

They also gathered to protest the military weapons that are in the hands of the Ferguson police and police departments throughout the country.

Protesters believe this isn't just about what's happening in the state of Missouri but it is also about what is happening right in the D.C. metro area.

Protesters say incidents like Michael Brown's are not uncommon.

Authorities stress however, that it is all about how the equipment is being used.
