Police: Woman sexually assaulted in SE apartment

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The Metropolitan Police Department needs your help identifying a suspect who they say sexually assaulted a woman inside her Southeast apartment.

It happened at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 in the 4200 block of 7th Street, SE.

Police say an adult female was awakened by a noise and saw an unknown suspect, armed with a knife, inside of her apartment. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim then fled, according to police.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'3" to 5'7" in height, wearing black clothing, a black mask, gloves, and armed with a silver knife.
