Police: Man charged with kidnapping Lyft driver at gunpoint

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - FBI and DC police have arrested and charged a D.C. man with kidnapping and assaulting a Lyft driver at gunpoint on Monday.

The Lyft driver picked up the suspect, 27-year-old Shane Browne, on the 2400 block of Calvert Street, NW and drove him to Aberdeen, Md.

When they arrived, Browne asked the driver to drive him back to D.C. When the driver refused, police said Browne pulled out a handgun and demanded to be taken back. That's when the driver complied.

Browne was driven back to the 2400 block of Calvert Street.

The victim called the police around 8 p.m.

Police arrested Browne and charged him with Kidnapping and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
