Police investigate slaying of 22-year-old in SE DC

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police in Washington are investigating a homicide in the 1500 block of V St., SE.

On Tuesday, April 8, at approximately 10:35 p.m., police were called to the area for the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police say. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Virgil Wood of Southeast Washington.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department's TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
