WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Two police officer flown to a hospital after they were hit by a car going northbound on I-295, police said.
The crash happened around 1 p.m. Monday near 11th Street bridge in Southeast D.C.
According to police, the officers were helping a driver on the side of the road who experiencing a medical emergency. When they got out of their vehicle to help the driver, police said another car struck the officers.

Both were medevaced to a hospital and were conscious and breathing. The victim suffering from the medical emergency was taken from the scene in an ambulance.
Police said the driver of the car who hit the officers stayed on the scene.
There are road closures in the area.
