Metro will single-track on Orange line starting Thursday

Orange Line to be impacted in next surge

Metro is about to start its longest stretch of single-tracking ever as part of the agency’s SafeTrack plan on Thursday.

This will impact 30,000 people who ride the Orange line for 42 days. Trains will be limited to one track between Vienna and West Falls Church. The six-mile-long stretch will be slowed until October 26th.

Metro’s General Manager acknowledges that this is tough on riders. Trains will come every 24 minutes instead of the usual six minutes.

Metro wants riders to take the Silver Line or free shuttle buses.
