Man identified in Southeast homicide

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide in Southeast that happened overnight on Saturday.

Police say 35-year-old Derrick Eugene Williams was killed on March 29 around 12:27 a.m. in the 1200 block of Eaton Road, Southeast.

Police responded to the report of sounds of gunshots and found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound., officials say.

Williams was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
