Man charged after DuPont Circle shooting, assaults

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - A man has been arrested in connection with an assault that occurred on Saturday in the 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue in Northwest, D.C.

The 27-year-old man, Ryan Metric Matthews, was charged with assault with intent to kill while armed and other related offenses, Metropolitan Police said.

Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, a male suspect assaulted two people and shot a third outside of a Northwest establishment. After a brief pursuit on foot, officers arrested the suspect and recovered a handgun.

The shooting victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to an area hospital. He is listed in critical but stable condition.

Matthews was also charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of unregistered ammunition and two counts of simple assault.
