WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - One Howard University student is $25,000 richer, thanks to Beyonce.
Graduate student, Maya Rogers, is the winner of the 2017 Formation Scholarship.
The songwriter and vocalist is a music therapy student at the school. She believes “in the power that music has to heal, connect and understand one’s self and others.”
“Maya Rogers is the quintessential Howard University student. She has a stellar academic record and is using her talents to empower others. We are pleased that she is recognized and rewarded for her commitment to service and academic excellence,” said Howard University President, Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick.
Rogers will receive the $25,000 scholarship this fall.
Howard University is one of four universities to offer the 2017 Formation Scholarship.
