Harvey Weinstein cut from Kennedy Center lineup

Three additional women are accusing Hollywood Mogul Harvey Weinstein of rape.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - In three weeks, Hollywood mega-mogul Harvey Weinstein was scheduled to visit the Kennedy Center, sitting down to discuss his success and artistic vision with a billionaire philanthropist.

But in the span of 100 hours, his empire and reputation seemed to crumble, details from an audio tape and A-list celebrities pushing a scandal years in the making past a point of no return.

As details of sexual harassment from the New York Times and New Yorker reached a crescendo, the Kennedy Center confirmed Tuesday it had removed Harvey Weinstein from its conversation series, Profiles in Creativity.

“Profiles in Creativity: Harvey Weinstein on November 2 will not take place,” said Eileen Andrews, Kennedy Center vice president of public relations. “The next Profiles in Creativity will be announced at a later date.”

The sit-down series with high-profile figures from the arts featured Bernadette Peters in June, speaking with the Kennedy Center’s billionaire chairman David M. Rubenstein.

“Patrons holding tickets for November 2 will receive a full refund,” Andrews said. “As well as the opportunity to purchase the next Profiles in Creativity event before the general public.”
