Hackers post profane anti-Trump message on electronic highway sign

Joggers, walkers, and drivers in Rock Creek Park have been getting an eyeful because of a profane electronic sign.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Most of us probably scoot right past electronic road signs barely noticing their messages. But lately, joggers, walkers, and drivers in Rock Creek Park have been getting an eyeful.

Someone has twice hacked the message board near picnic area 7 and posted profane messages about President Trump and "Kill Nazis."

The sign was put there by a contractor for D.C. Water, which is working in the area. After someone complained, Park Police had workers take the messages down, and the control panel has now been locked.

It's apparently easy to hack the panels. Most just use a default password. There are step-by-step instructions on line, along with tongue in cheek messages urging people not to do it.

A Google search turns up scores of message warning of things like rampaging pandas on the loose.
