Driver dead in Md. single vehicle collision

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A man is dead after a single vehicle collision that happened on eastbound I-70 west of Rt. 65 on Saturday morning.

Maryland State Police responded to the accident at 11:09 a.m. According to authorities, a 2009 Kia Sorento was going westbound on I-70 when the vehicle left the westbound lanes and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes of I-70. The vehicle came to a rest among trees and a fence on the right shoulder of eastbound I-70.

Police said the driver, Robert Donald Sadler, Jr. 59, of Verona, Pa. died in the accident. The passenger Elaine Marie Sadler was taken to the hospital for observation.

The accident is under investigation.

The Interstate 70 eastbound slow lane was closed for about 3.5 hours authorities said. It reopened at 2:30 p.m.
