DC Police arrest man in stabbing of 26-year-old woman

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metropolitan Police arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with stabbing a 26-year-old D.C. woman to death on Friday night.

Police said the incident happened around 2:17 a.m. in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, SE. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found an unconscious woman suffering from a stab wound.

India Chapple, 26 of SE, D.C. was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.

Deputies arrested 30-year-old Tracy Mathis of SE, D.C. Saturday morning. He is being charged with second degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of India Chapple, police said.
