DC fire department investigating after man's death

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- D.C. fire department officials say that they are investigating whether EMS and firefighters followed proper procedure after a man died on Saturday.

Officials tell us that in the afternoon of Jan. 25, a man suffered a heart attack on the 1300 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE. Family members requested assistance from Engine 26, which is located across the street. Firefighters/EMS reportedly denied the request for assistance and the man died.

The department is conducting an investigation.
