DC bus driver attacked

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- According to the WMATA's public information officer, a bus driver was attacked around 1 p.m. Monday close to the Tenelytown/American University Metro stop.

According to WMATA officials, the incident happened at 40th St. and Albermarle Street, close to the east entrance of the Metro station.

Authorities said, the driver suffered non-life threatening wounds to his face.

The suspect is currently in custody and the weapon has been recovered, authorities said.

The reason behind the attack is still unclear.
