Arrest made in Northeast Washington homicide

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- D.C. police have arrested a 29-year-old in connection to the death of a Fort Washington, Md. man.

James Walter Yates III, of Southeast Washington, is charged with second degree murder while armed in the homicide of Andre Pierce Joyner, according to police.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Morris Place in Northeast Washington on Friday, April 25, at approximately 3:35 p.m. for the report of gunshots. Upon arrival, Joyner was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
