4 injured after fleeing traffic stop in stolen vehicle in DC

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Four people are injured after fleeing from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle in the District early Monday morning, police said. 

Around 2:20 a.m., police saw a Ford Crown Victoria run a red light in the area of 16th Street and Mount Olivet Road in Northeast. 

Officers heard tires squealing and saw it swerving when they pursued the vehicle. Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a pole. 

One person was trapped after the crash, but has since been extricated. The driver and three other passengers were transported to the hospital. 

One person has critical injuries, another has serious and two others have lesser injuries. 

Police said charges are pending and warrants have been issued.
